LACE WIGS

First you must understand that lace wigs have a sheer lace base that looks like your natural scalp. Every time you wash it, you are shortening the lifespan of your wig so it is very important to wash it gently. You may want to only wash it every other week but depending on how much your wear it will determine how often you may want to wash it. Below are steps on how to wash a lace wig:

· Use a vent brush and gently comb detangling the hair before washing. You must be extremely careful to not rip the thin hairs from the lace. Detangle from the bottom working your way toward the root of the hair.

· Use sulfate free shampoo and conditioner to wash your human hair wig. Proper conditioning and protein complexes will strengthen and enhance your hair. Moisturize and hydrating conditioners make your hair more silky and glossy. NOTE: for color treated hair, I suggest leaving the conditioner in over night or until it dries.

· Do not put shampoo directly onto the hair because the hair roots can be damaged by the alkaline in the shampoo. Simply add more water. Always wash twice. Use warm water. Never use hot water; it can blast open/damage the hair shaft. And on the other hand, do not wash in cold water because shampoo cannot be rinsed thoroughly in cold water. ONLY use strokes from roots to ends. NEVER crumble the hair while washing.

· Use a vent brush to gently detangle. Lay the wig onto a towel and fold or Squeeze the towel over the hair and press excess water out lightly, so the conditioner can be absorbed effectively.

· Apply conditioner after washing your wig. Apply it with the same strokes from the middle to the end of the hair. Brush gently with fingers through hair from top to bottom, to make sure the conditioner is distributed evenly. You can also use your vent brush to evenly distribute the conditioner throughout the hair. Remember to begin brushing from the middle to the ends working your way smoothly to the roots and down to the ends.

· Rinse the conditioner out with cool or cold water. Cool or cold water closes the hair shaft, locking the softness and moisture in the hair strand making the hair full and silky.

· Avoid combing while wet to prevent shedding. Dry hair with head dryer, a blow dryer or allow it to sit. Once it is about 60% dry use a vent brush. Use a nozzle on your hair dryer to centralize the thermal current and keep airflow going straight along hair directions. Never keep dryer in one place too long.

· Always use a little setting lotion in a spray bottle to help with frizz and styling. With curly or wavy hair use more with Chi oil.
